Top Line: The weekend has come and gone! How is it that the 24 hours of the weekend always seem so shorter than the weekday 24 hours?

Mr. Rangajan has sent me a mail giving consent to his mails being published in the blog. Thank you Sir. I hope you will continue to contribute to the blog. We want to see Project Bright take off soon with you as the Project Manager :)

Project Aqua has come to a close. Hats off to Mr. Rangarajan and Mr. Srinivas for making this a success. Special mention about Mr. Krishnagopal and Mr. Kannapan for the able support extended.

The terrace has been cleaned up and it looked pretty neat when I saw it. I will have to get some photos taken tomorrow. It won't be long before people go up and get it back to the usual - strewn clothes and rubbish. Some things just don't change...

Project Aqua - Closure

It is time to sign off Project AQUA. With everyones good wishes, patience and prayers we, the team of Sri Siddhi Flat Owners' Association, have completed the Project AQUA.

Mr.Rangarajan's general observations:
1.Meticulous Planning with lots of sleepless nights by Shri TN srinivas and me with the avid interests and patience shown by all proved very useful.
2. One very major innovative idea was to get the triple tank connected to the Bore Water Master line which enabled continuous supply of water most of the time-it was a boon.
3. Good plumber with neat executions was a plus point; however, he had two minor set backs - one-man working and there was no team and that delayed the process and secondly he had many fixed minds and getting him to do with flexibility was quite difficult; but then we can't change the world and all is well that ends well.
4. The days proved to be rank hot and standing in the terrace with them and going up and down 20 times a day was an ordeal& also to think they put on so much physical work in such sheer heat is a wonder.
5. On site support was available to quite an extent from Mr Kannappan; Mr TNSrinivas logged in quite adequate time particularly when it mattered and Mr Krishnagopal too made some level of support.
6.We take pride in that never once the work-time suffered for want of materials, since I was feeding the materials mostly with occasional support from Mr Kannappan and Mr TN Srinivas runnign around to buy without delay.
7.All flats have confirmed good supply in all outlets (except Flat no 10 finding some non-supply which has nothing to do with the master line relaying & we hope to decipher and attend to early).
8. We couldn't finally avoid one line going across, that of MW inlet pipe - we should soon cover it adequately to avoid tripping and breakages. The total costs against the approval obtained in the meeting for Rs 40000/- is as follows:{I had estimated the whole process at Rs 18000/- Material and 13000/- Labour. It is to be noted that this estimate did not consider full circle Master Line for MW which ultimately we decided to go for ( to the discomfiture of the plumber!)} and hence I believe the actuals have been ON THE DOT with my estimate due planning & proper quotes taken ahead. The Total Cost 34054/-; then we disposed of all PVC,Metallic removals keeping only a few good looking valves for future and got 1450/- for it, net 32604/- upto terrace cleaning.

Bottom Line: Project Aqua is closed! This means that there will be no more daly mails from Mr.Rangarajan and it will be entirely on me to run the show :(

Let me see what I can do next...

Adios...

Top Line: I continue despite no comments for yesterday's posting on the blog. However, there was a thank you fom Mr. Rangarajan and that has motivated me to go ahead with today's.
Oh, I forgot, today the overhead tanks have been opened - no gala ceremony though and certainly no politicians! Water is coming down quite fiercefully as though it was angry not to have served us for so many days. The photos I took earlier today are available at the bottom. The terrace still requires complete clean up which I am sure will be done in a day or two. I, as usual will extend my moral support to all activities.
Tomorrow (June 21, 2009) is Mrs. and Mr. Kannappan (Flat 9)'s Sashtiapthapoorthi. Let us pray to God to give the couple good health and long life! i will be missing the function as I need to travel to Coimbatore tonight.

Project Aqua - 19th June, 2009 update.
The Project is over well and truely but we will still have the routine of allowing MW tank to dryout throughout today (19th June).Tomorrow morning sometime we will check the tanks with full water and then water supply will resume normally in all aspects. Once this is over, I shall send a final comprehensive message.
Roughly the Project has costed 32000/- as against Projected 40000/- and I shall confirm the final figures exactly after a few material returns and purchase settlements but the figure will very much be around this.

Just in!
Mr. Rangarajan, took pains in drawing these and I did not take any pain in publishing them here:

This is how bad things looked before Project Aqua!

This is how it looks now! Don't you now appreciate the hard work done by Mr. Rangarajan and Mr. Srinivasan?

Project Aqua - Photos taken on 20th June

The outlet for the Borewell wather. Just one pipe and not a maze!
The outlet to the individual flats. Simple valve.
The outlet from the Metro water tank
The other side view of the Borewell tank. Again no maze of pipes!
The tiled metro water tank. No more paasi!
And the tiled bore water tank.
Wow, neatly laid out pipes, no more criss-cross!

Another view. The cross line is a cable, not a pipe.

Top line:
Hello and welcome to SriSiddhiFlats. I created this blog so as to keep in touch with what's happening in our flat.
The following contents are an extract of the mails sent by Mr. VR Rangarajan, Flat 7 on Project Aqua which is in the final stages of completion. I do not have his approval in publishing this and I suppose he wouldn't mind. This is my way of extending the moral support to the work. Pardon the spacing.
I will publish the photos of the terrace once the work is completed.
Yes, I am getting borewell water now and yes, I did have my bath today.
Regards,
Aravind

Project Aqua - 18th June, 2009 update.
Hello everybody,
Project AQUA at last is expected to come to a close today.
We have given really long time of full days for tiled tank to set well.
The Metro water Master line is in place. The extra Bore water lines have been dropped down. Well, today there won't be metro water supply. We have also organised to shorten the course of the Metro water input line by cutting it in between and raising it up midaway (we were earlier worried how to find the inlet pipe - ultimately it proved quick); this should relieve the motor a lot and should result in much lesser motor strain, quicker fill and therefore reduce power consumption and also will help solving the motor heating problem we have been facing for long.We were lucky to get the possibility of continuously delivering bore water direct from the triple tank and this has been an indirect boon! and lo flat no 5 gets Bore water supply Now!
Today is the final testing day; I hope, pray and wish that we get everything in place and both Metro water and Bore water get delivered from the tiled tank without any drop from the previous line pressure, the oozing and leakage of water from the bottom end of the tank and through concealed piping are all eliminated fully and we also have a big part of the terrace free. However, the Association should ensure people follow disciplines, pipes and valves are left intact and also no PLUMBING work etc. are done at the terrace by individual flats.
Incidentally we have maintained the budgeteray levels well under control and as soon as the Project gets over, you will get a mail of the actual money spent on Materials and Labour.

Project Aqua - 17th June, 2009 update.
Well, the fourth day was a bit of an aniti-climax. The usual phenomenon of workmen not coming plus the extreme heat taking a toll in these three days left us with lesser work. Howvever, there was some progress in now putting up the metro water Master line.
Thursday is slated to be the D-Day and mostly we will complete testing of the Bore Water tank, give line to Flat no5, Tile the Metro water tank. Then it will be only connecting 5 extra lines and attendiong to Metro water input line, which work also will be attempted maximum on Thursday. Let us hope everything will be over on thursday and then Friday will be the day to test Metro Water tiled tank some time late in the evening giving adequate curing time in any case.I have recieved a few messages which I take as the right moral support. Too early to talk of individual efforts and supports until every thing gets over and every thing is found ALL RIGHT, touchwood should be so!, there is no time to think of such things.

Project Aqua - 16th June, 2009 update.
The latest position on Project AQUA as of end 16-June-2009 is as follows:
1. All Lines except Flat no 5 fully connected to Bore Water master line
2. The piping circuit of Bore water is completed 100%
3. Since we could connect from yesterday evening the Triple tank and feed Bore water to most lines and all other lines Flat no 5 have been added to this supply, we decided to alow the Main Bore water tank more curing time to our advantage and hope to test the entire supply system with Master line and feeder lines in place with c a completely tiled tank tomorrow and then full bore water supply will come into normalcy and as usual.
4. The old bore water line ends have all been removed fully at the bottom of the tank and the area completely cement packed well.
5. most of the openings made on the parapet wall sides have been plastered except those that will need Metro water lines to come in.
Tomorrow's jobs will be:
1. Metro water will continue to be available in the morning.
2. The readying for Metro Water Master Line will be under taken and its 4 sub-connections will also be got ready. We will have to decide a time to cut off Metro water supply completely and start opening up of the tank as suitable, dry the tank out and then chipping and Tiling. Of course, we will be doing it after getting full and good tested supply of Bore water line. While every effort will be made to keep every flat informed, we should be ready for similar dificulties on Metro water supply for a couple of days.
3. Flat no 5 Bore water exisitng line and also the 5 additional second lines planned will be connected tomorrow mostly by bringing down pipes from terrace down and connecting to the existing pipe lines.
4.Metro water input line will need a review and courase correction as necessary.

While Mr.TN Srinivas has continued to be the most thinking, moderating and guiding Master aNCHOR Force of the Project AQUA every day without fail, also there has been physical help and moral support from Mr Kannappan and Mr.. Krishnagopal and that has helped. Well, none of the residents have at any point of time showed dissent or complained or grumbled about the dislocation at times in water supply and that itself is a good support and to add to it one family has extended their good wishes and their thoughts with us from USA as well!
Tomorrow is another day! There is lot to be done and hope support will come from some quarters.

Project Aqua - 15th June, 2009 update.
The Status as of end of 15-June-2009 is as follows:
1. The Bore water pipelines across the terrace have been completely removed.
2. Bore water Master pipeline has been laid around but not yet connected to the BW tank
3. The Bore water tank has been fully tiled.
4. Metro water line is continuously feeding all the flats so far. In the mean-time to reduce the problem due no bore water supply, we have directly connected the triple tank to the New Master Bore Water line and started the bore water line availability. however, due to certain difficulties in breaking open walls and getting pipes connected, as of now water is available on BW taps in flats 1,2,3,6,8,10 on one side only and flat number 5 is not yet connected; flat no 5 and above flats the second side is expected to be connected also by mid-day on 16-6-09 Flats 4,7,9,11 and 12 are connected fully. This purely a temporary arrangement and the water is not also filtered through MORF. We hope the completed tiled Bore water tank supply using MORF will be available to the BW original lines as is where is by 16-June-2009 evening.
5. Once BW supply is fully tested and complete in all respects, the schedule of work out for Metro Water tank will be finalised and will be informed.
6. As of now we are working well within our budgets without any major compromise on original intentions on qaulity of materials, Labour .
